Oliver Dowden claimed that Moscow’s purported use of Facebook sites to promote support for Nigel Farage “is a classic example from the Russian playbook” on Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), it has been keeping an eye on five coordinated Facebook groups that have been disseminating talking points from the Kremlin, some of which have posted in favor of Reform UK.

“I’ve been warning about this for a while,” Mr. Dowden said to News.

“Violent state actors attempting to sway the results of the election campaign pose a concern in every election, and this one is no exception.

This is a well-known example from the Russian playbook, and Russia is a prime illustration of it.

This was a “low-level use of bots,” he continued.

“These revelations reveal the real risk our democracy faces in this uncertain world,” Mr. Dowden had earlier told The news.

It is quite disturbing to witness hostile foreign entities during an election campaign, as this is just one more indication of the difficulties in the increasingly unstable cyberspace of the twenty-first century. These players are pushing British political parties, policies, and viewpoints that suit their goal.

According to the publication, national security adviser Sir Tim Barrow and cabinet secretary Simon Case received a letter from Conservative chairman Richard Holden requesting that the allegations be ok.
