PESHAWAR: Given the current state of misunderstanding among different stakeholders over the recently announced Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, security sources have provided assurances that the aforementioned anti-terror effort will not involve any military operations or evictions.
The sources emphasized that the operation was misunderstood and explained that the initiative called for the establishment of a multifaceted strategy to combat terrorism along with efficient laws to prevent smuggling and guarantee that militants face justice.
The clarification was made in response to concerns expressed by a number of opposition political parties, including the Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insfaf (PTI), and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), following the approval of the plan by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet.
Re-energized and revitalized, the operation was a countrywide counterterrorism initiative.
