The Islamabad High Court’s contempt of court case involving Justice Babar Sattar has seen some noteworthy developments, as the court has taken proactive measures to investigate the disclosure of personal information about the judge and his family.
The foreign ministry was instructed by the high court’s registrar to send a letter to social networking site X’s chief legal officer. This letter asks X to assist Pakistani investigation agencies by supplying pertinent information regarding the leak of Justice Babar Sattar’s personal data, citing the larger bench of the Islamabad High Court’s directive.
According to court sources, X has been offered the chance to send a representative to the high court to help find the source of the data breach.
The sources continued, “It will be commendable if X sends a representative.”The sources cited the letter as stating that high court judge Justice Babar Sattar’s and his family’s personal information had been disclosed on X.
The letter further emphasizes how crucial it is for “X” to help Pakistani authorities identify the accounts that are spreading the stolen data. It also contains information on the accounts that Pakistani detectives have so far been able to identify.
The letter stated that “X should assist in identifying the data leaker’s account,” and that “X should assist the government by providing links, even if it was an organized campaign.” The letter also highlights X’s support for nations including the UK and India.
