BULAWAYO: Corbin Bosch's all-around skill and rookie Lhuan-dre Pretorius's record-breaking century helped South Africa defeat Zimbabwe by a resounding 328 runs in the opening Test match. In the first Test of the two-match series, the home team's batting line collapsed on a pitiful 208 runs while chasing a difficult 537-run goal. Bosch removed the number three batsman on the first ball of the day, giving Zimbabwe the worst possible start as they attempted to rally from 32-1 through opener Prince Masvaure and Nick Welch (0). Following the early blow, Masvaure was joined by first-innings centurion Sean Williams for a short 32-run partnership.

In an intense Italian Cup match, Juventus showed off their overwhelming might, winning 6-1 over struggling Salernitana.

After suffering an early loss, the Bianconeri fiercely fought back to guarantee their place in the tournament’s quarterfinals.

The match took an unexpected turn when Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi of Salernitana scored a goal in the opening two minutes by taking advantage of a defensive blunder by Federico Gatti. But Juventus rallied quickly, and ten minutes later Fabio Miretti’s goal tied the score.

Juventus cemented their dominance over the match in the 35th minute with another goal from Andrea Cambiaso. Their lead was extended in the 53rd minute when Daniele Rugani’s goal was made possible by Federico Chiesa’s accuracy. The visitors’ problems were exacerbated when Dylan Bronn of Salernitana scored an own goal in the 75th minute.

Timothy Weah and Kenan Yildiz added to Juventus’ lead, capping an outstanding victory. Coach Massimiliano Allegri highlighted his team’s amazing comeback despite falling behind early on, praising their tenacity.

“Our reaction after the initial setback was commendable, displaying an excellent performance,” Allegri said. “This team is still developing, even though there is space for improvement. Securing Champions League qualification continues to be our major goal.

A rematch between Juventus and Salernitana is scheduled for this Sunday in Serie A, and it promises to be another fierce matchup. In the meantime, Frosinone, which soundly defeated Napoli 4-0 in the previous round, will play Juventus in the quarterfinals.
