In the second round at Wimbledon, the 26-year-old, who was participating for the first time in five years, lost 6-4 6-1.
After four attempts, Osaka has yet to go past the third round of Wimbledon thanks to the loss.
After giving birth to her first child last year, Osaka entered the competition as a wildcard. She suffered an injury that kept her out of the 2022 competition, and in 2021 she took time out of the game to address mental health concerns.
She prevailed in a close battle against Frenchwoman Diane Parry, ranked 53rd in the world, on Monday, but lost to American Navarro at Centre Court, who committed just five errors.
Osaka opened the second set with a long forehand when she had the court all to herself. Her opponent was left stranded as she attempted a clumsy drop-volley into the net, and Navarro broke right away.
After just 59 minutes, Navarro forced two more breakpoints in order to arrange a meeting with Russian Diana Shnaider.
