On Wednesday, the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce was notified that the procedures for exporting donkey meat and skins to China had been completed.
Ahsan Ali Mangi, the ministry’s additional secretary, revealed this to the committee led by Senator Anusha Rahman.
The committee was also briefed on the performance reviews of the departments of the Commerce Division that were attached.
Mangi said that the ministry has completed the export procedures for potatoes, onions, and chilies to China in addition to the protocols pertaining to donkey skin and meat.
Rahman questioned the logic of sending onions to China, pointing out that Pakistan only produces one-fifth of its domestic consumption.
The committee was also informed by the ministry that it has suggested establishing nine new diplomatic missions, with locations including Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Oman, Iraq, and Malaysia.
The committee was informed that the Transit Trade Agreement has been negotiated with Central Asian nations, primarily Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.
