With the arrest of a prominent militant, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) effectively averted a planned terrorist attack on the Muharram parade in Karachi.
Mohammad Shoaib, a member of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Dara Adam Khel, was captured in Etihad Town, according to DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Sheikh.
According to DIG Sheikh, Shoaib joined the banned TTP after moving to Karachi and was planning to attack the 8th Muharram parade. Significant intelligence has been obtained from the arrest, as evidenced by the recovery of a suicide jacket from Shoaib.
Under DIG Sheikh’s direction, the CTD has stepped up its efforts to anticipate possible threats during the delicate Muharram time.
The department is carrying out additional inquiries in order to neutralize any potential risks and guarantee public safety.
