On invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan came in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day formal visit scheduled for July 11–12.
At the airport, Prime Minister Sharif and his cabinet members, including Ministers of Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, greeted President Aliyev with great affection.
To signal the dignitary’s arrival, a 21-gun salute could be heard in the distance. When he arrived, two little girls in traditional clothes gave him bouquets.
President Aliyev is expected to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif while in the country.
The two sides will have in-depth conversations on topics of shared interest in order to further develop their bilateral relationship.
In addition, 15 memoranda of understanding between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are scheduled to be signed today, which would be a huge step forward for the growth of bilateral commerce and cooperation. These agreements, according to sources, would cover a wide spectrum of industries, underscoring the strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
A preferential trade agreement, which offers mutually favorable terms to improve economic relations, is one of the primary agreements. In addition, agreements for aviation services and transit trade will be signed, allowing for easier travel for persons and products between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The two countries will also ink Memorandums of Understanding for information-sharing and foreign policy collaboration. The exchange of a draft cultural exchange program will strengthen the cultural bonds between the two nations.
