KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that the port city may see an increase in temperature starting today (Monday), following several days of overcast weather.

Based on the PMD prediction, the city’s “heat intensity” is “likely to increase” and the temperature may stay hot and muggy for the next twenty-four hours.

The forecast further stated that the northwesterly winds are blowing at a speed of eighteen kilometers per hour and that the sea winds in Karachi had halted.

Furthermore, according to the Met Office, 30.4°C was the reported minimum temperature.

In the meantime, it was expected that the air’s humidity would reach 73% and the maximum temperature would likely rise to 35°C to 37°C.

Nonetheless, the PMD has forecast that Karachi residents may see some drizzle or light rain in the evening or at night.

The meteorological agency ruled out another heatwave in the metropolis on Sunday despite the uptick in temperatures. Instead, it forecast a fresh monsoon phase that will strike Sindh, including the provincial capital, starting on July 18 or 19.
