According to an indictment made public in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday, Sue Mi Terry, who also previously worked on the White House National Security Council, neglected to register as a foreign agent with the US Justice Department.She allegedly received lunches at Michelin-starred restaurants, a Dolce & Gabbana coat, and purses from Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta given by South Korean intelligence officers.
Additionally, according to the prosecution, they gave over $37,000 in “covert” cash for a public policy initiative she oversaw on Korean matters.
Two years after quitting her job with the US government in 2013, Terry is said to have worked as an agent for ten years.
According to the indictment, she arranged meetings between US and South Korean government officials, conveyed confidential material to intelligence operatives, and promoted South Korean policy stances during media appearances.
“In fact, she was a harsh critic of the South Korean government during times when this indictment alleges she was acting on its behalf,” he said, adding that she had not possessed a security clearance for more than ten years.
