With ten races remaining in the current season, beginning this weekend with the Dutch Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen leads McLaren’s Lando Norris by 78 points in the title.
Therefore, despite the fact that Verstappen hasn’t won a race since the Spanish Grand Prix in June, he is definitely in a strong position to win a fourth world championship. From this point on, Norris would need to recover an average of almost eight points per race to defeat him.
That’s feasible given McLaren’s current form, but Norris hasn’t shown inclined to do it.
Norris has a lead of 22 points over Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, 32 over Oscar Piastri of McLaren, 37 over Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, and 49 over Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.
The rate of scoring for each of these drivers is what is so intriguing about this second half of the season from the perspective of the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Hamilton scored the most points (95) in the five races from Spain to the summer break following Belgium, including victories in Britain and Belgium.
