In Williamsport, Pennsylvania, dozens of Little League youngsters ranging in age from eleven to thirteen are vying to be the best team worldwide.
This year’s Little League Classic featured the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers. Seven years ago, Major League Baseball made the decision to hold a game in Williamsport during the Little League World Series.
Following the arrival of both teams, their key players greeted and signed balls and jerseys for a large number of Little Leaguers, brightening their day and posing for pictures.
But Bob Laterza, the manager of the Staten Island South Shore Little League club that represents the Metro area, isn’t pleased with Aaron Judge because, according to Laterza.
Laterza said to SI Live that while Judge and other team members were not present, his squad was still promised a meet-and-greet at International Grove with the Yankees.
Laterza did report that his team later met with other players, including Gerrit Cole, the current Cy Young Award winner.
Laterza, however, took issue with Judge’s failure to convene with his squad and his failure to acknowledge it at the Classic. The seats for the Staten Island team were approximately 25 feet behind home plate.
