The Harris campaign requested that both candidates’ microphones be on live feed for the duration of the show in a statement sent to News.
According to reports, the Trump campaign wants the debate, which is set for September 10, to follow the same guidelines as were established when Joe Biden was the Democratic nominee. That would include turning off the microphones.
The former president appeared to reach a deadlock when he cast doubt on the network’s objectivity and hinted that he would possibly miss the debate.
Prior to bidding farewell as the Democratic Party’s nominee, President Joe Biden’s team consented to take part in two debates with the Trump campaign: one scheduled for this September on the news and the other in June on the news.
The Biden campaign decided to shut the microphone during a candidate’s silence and negotiated the debate’s rules.
The regulation, which was put into effect during the June debate, was accepted by the Trump campaign.
But now that there are only fifteen days left before the Philadelphia News debate airs, the Harris campaign wants the mics to be “hot,” which means they won’t be switched off during the debate.
