Balochistan reported many violent occurrences on August 26, one of which involved a suicide attack on a security forces compound in the province’s Lasbela area. One of the suicide bombers was later identified as a lady by the name of Mahal Baloch by the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Online articles started asserting that Mahal Baloch was the same person who had been recently granted bail by the Balochistan High Court after the BLA’s announcement.
The assertions are untrue.

On August 26, a user of X (formerly Twitter) chastised rights activist Mahrang Baloch and journalist Hamid Mir for standing up for the victims of enforced disappearances.
The user added in Urdu, “This is your missing persons’ account, Hamid Mir. Three months ago, Pakistani agencies picked up the bomber Mahal Baloch, but HamidMir and Mahrang Baloch made a fuss that they are picking up women. Today this Mahal Baloch conducted a suicide attack.”
