RAWALPINDI: Following the Supreme Court’s decision in the NAB amendments case, Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), filed a request for acquittal in the £190 million case on Saturday.
The PTI founder filed a petition seeking acquittal at today’s hearing at the accountability court in the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. The lawsuit accused Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of causing the national exchequer to lose billions of dollars.
The attorney for the former prime minister informed the judge that because all cabinet decisions are safeguarded by NAB rules, the £190 million case is now void following the verdict.
“The question that arises here is whether the accountability court has jurisdiction in this case or not after the NAB amendments,” the NAB prosecutor stated.
