ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) moved the Supreme Court on Saturday, requesting an explanation regarding the correspondence sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding reserved seats, from Speaker Ayaz Sadiq of the National Assembly to Custodian Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of the Punjab Assembly.
Through attorney Uzair Karamat Bhandari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan filed the plea, which asks the top court to rule that “the Elections (Second Amendment) Act, 2024 had no bearing or effect on the binding nature of the short order dated 12 July 2024 and the implementation thereof cannot be refused on the basis of said statute.”
