This came to light on Tuesday when an order was made by the IHC on a case that contested Pemra’s orders for retired officers to obtain authorization from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) prior to making an appearance on television.
April 2019: Pemra directed all TV networks to get ISPR approval before inviting retired military officers “to solicit their views on matters of national security” on news and current affairs shows.
The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society backed the directions, but the Ex-Servicemen Legal Forum contested them at the IHC.
