According to sources close to Sport, Ten Hag will start for the important matches against Porto and Aston Villa.
Even though they finished Sunday’s depressing 3-0 loss to Tottenham in 13th place, Ten Hag feels optimistic about the season being a “success”.
Ten Hag said to Sports on Monday, “Nothing is easy, but this is nothing to get worked up about.”
“We can sort [the problems] out, this team can sort this out.”
United has only triumphed in three of its nine games in all competitions in 2023–25, defeating League One Barnsley in the EFL Cup and Fulham and Southampton in the league.
In his first season, Ten Hag guided the Red Devils to third place in the Premier League in 2022–2023; they also won the EFL Cup and finished second in the FA Cup.
United finished seventh in the Premier League last season, which was a record low for them, but they celebrated by winning the FA Cup against Manchester City.
Over the summer, the Dutchman was rewarded with a new contract that extends until 2026, and last month, Omar Berrada, the club’s chief executive, stated that the team fully supports him.
