Designer Giorgio Armani, who dressed Hollywood celebrities and helped Italy become a global fashion leader, has away at the age of 91, the firm he created and oversaw for 50 years announced Thursday.
Armani oversaw a corporation that brought in about 2.3 billion euros ($2.7 billion) in revenue annually by fusing his business sense with the flare of a designer.
In a statement, the fashion company, which has proudly maintained its independence for 50 years, stated, “With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani.”
“We, the staff members and relatives, have consistently collaborated with Mr. Armani.”
