MULTAN: According to police on Saturday, a rescue boat transporting flood victims capsized in Jalalpur, Multan, killing four people—including a woman and three children.
About 30 individuals were on board when the event occurred, according to a statement from the city police officer (CPO). Of those, 25 were rescued, including six injured, while a two-month-old child is still unaccounted for. Teams of rescue workers are still looking for the baby.
Some victims were dragged out by locals, rescue officials reported. A woman and three children were among the deceased, according to the CPO.
According to the CPO, the boat was used to evacuate locals afflicted by flooding, but it overturned because more people boarded than it could hold because of crowding.
