Google DeepMind is an artificial intelligence research business that Demis Hassabis co-founded.

All human cells contain proteins, which are the fundamental units of life.

Significant advances in medicine have been fueled by a deeper comprehension of proteins.

US-based professor David Baker created a novel protein using amino acids, paving the way for the development of new proteins for use in medications, vaccinations, and other instruments.

Shortly after the news, Prof. Baker expressed his excitement and honor to the committee.

He said, “I stood on the shoulders of giants,” when asked how he had deciphered the mystery of creation.

He claimed that his wife “started screaming very loudly” in excitement when the announcement was made, and that he was asleep when the phone called.

Demis Hassabis and John Jumper, who are based in the UK, developed a program called AlphaFold2 and employed artificial intelligence to predict the structures of practically all known proteins.

Approved by the committee as a “complete revolution” in chemistry, it is utilized by 200 million people globally.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the announcement during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

A prize sum of 11 million Swedish kronor (£810,000) is divided among the winners. Half of the prize will go to Prof. Baker; the other half will go to Mr. Hassabis and Mr. Jumper.
