KARACHI: As the city experienced a third day of intense monsoon rains, streets and homes in low-lying areas were flooded on Wednesday. Rescue crews had to evacuate hundreds of citizens as rivers overflowed.
Several villages remained under water even after the water was removed from Shahrah-e-Faisal, major thoroughfares, the M-9 Motorway, and the Lyari Expressway, which has since been reopened to traffic. There was no standing water on the road or expressway, according to a road Police official.
The downpours caused at least four individuals to drown in the Gadap River, and two bodies—including a woman’s—have been found thus far.
