ISLAMABAD: In connection with the alleged recovery of illicit firearms and alcohol, a district and sessions court in Islamabad issued an arrest warrant for Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday.
Since Gandapur did not send a representation to today’s court, Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan issued the warrant.
The court directed officials to arrest CM Gandapur and deliver him before it on September 17.
Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, and others were sentenced to 10 years in prison for a May 9 riot case involving violence at Rahat Bakery Chowk, whereas PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi was acquitted by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore the day before.
