A judicial magistrate’s decision to prohibit 11 YouTube channels was overturned by a district and sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah ordered authorities to suspend 27 popular YouTube channels in June after they were accused of disseminating “anti-state” content.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) asked that the channels be shut down.
The appeals contesting the YouTube channel suspension have been heard by the district and sessions courts.
Eleven YouTubers appealed the termination of their channels, and Judge Afzal Majoka revealed his reserved verdict.
The judge ruled that the judicial magistrate’s order to shut down the YouTube channels was invalid after accepting 11 appeals.
