WASHINGTON: According to a White House official on Monday, President Donald Trump will sign an executive order later this week stating that a deal to sell out TikTok’s US businesses from its Chinese owner Bytedance will comply with the provisions of a 2024 legislation.

The person told reporters on a conference call that the United States is certain China has authorized the deal and does not intend to hold any discussions with Beijing regarding its specifics, but that both parties must submit more documentation in order for the transaction to be approved.
