After a year-long examination and discussions with important stakeholders, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has terminated USA Cricket’s membership with immediate effect.
At its most recent meeting, the ICC Board made the judgment, pointing to several violations of its duties under the ICC Constitution.
The ICC claims that USA Cricket did not create a workable governance structure, did not make significant strides in obtaining recognition as a National Governing Body from the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and engaged in activities that damaged the sport’s standing both at home and abroad.
According to a statement from the ICC, “the suspension is an unfortunate but necessary step to protect the long-term interests of the game.”
