The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that it was looking into the man’s death close to the Stoddard Canyon Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains of California.
Officers discovered a guy “from trauma to his upper torso” after responding to a complaint regarding a deadly weapon assault on Saturday.
At the scene, he was declared dead.
A male was observed driving away from the site and then crashed a few miles away, according to the sheriff’s department.
It further stated that he was detained on suspicion of murder and identified as the victim’s 19-year-old son.
Potential charges will be evaluated by prosecutors, according to the sheriff’s office.
Following its rise in popularity on TikTok, Stoddard Canyon Falls was highlighted as a “hidden gem” by the Los Angeles Times last year.
On weekends, the area’s swimming holes and waterfalls attract sizable crowds.
