DUBAI: According to sources on Thursday, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav received a formal censure from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his political remarks following their Asia Cup match against Pakistan on September 14.
In a hearing on an official complaint brought by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ICC allegedly counseled Yadav to abstain from future political remarks.
His post-match remarks following India’s victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup group stage on September 14 are the source of the dispute.
In their protest, the PCB charged that the Indian skipper had violated the ICC’s neutrality clause and politicized cricket.
