KARACHI: The Nash Cup, a $31,250 PSA World Tour Copper tournament, is being played in London, Ontario, Canada, where Pakistan’s teenage squash players Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan advanced to the quarterfinals.
Zaman, who was ranked fifth, defeated Jeremias Azana of Argentina 3-1 in the round of 16.
Zaman lost a close second game 12-14 after winning the first 11-6, but regained control to win the third 12-10 and end the match 11-7 in the fourth. It was a 57-minute encounter.
The eighth seed Irfan’s journey was more difficult; he faced Malaysia’s Sanjay Jeeva in a thrilling five-game match.
Jeeva answered by winning the second game 11-5, but Irfan got off to a good start in the first game, winning 11-5.
