China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Russia make up the SCO, with 16 additional nations participating as “dialogue partners” or observers.
At the SCO conference in Kazakhstan in 2017, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif—who had voiced optimism for mending ties with India—joined Pakistan as a full member.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is now the Chair of the Council of the Heads of Government (CHG), will chair the meeting.
Prior to the SCO dinner, video from the location showed Prime Minister Shehbaz greeting and shaking hands with dignitaries, including Jaishankar of India, with whom he also had a lengthy discussion.
