WASHINGTON: On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth painted the US military as bloated, overly reliant on leftist “woke” ideologies, and in dire need of a significant overhaul that prioritizes being fierce “war fighters.”
Speaking to a crowd of hundreds of generals and admirals who had been sent to Virginia from all over the world, the former Fox News anchor outlined a strategy to put an end to what he described as “decades of decay.”
Hegseth criticized “fat troops” at home and “stupid rules of engagement” on the battlefield, urging the military to draw inspiration from the 1990 standards as he strode across a stage in front of a massive American flag that mirrored his pocket square.
