Washington: Until Congress and President Donald Trump reach a spending agreement, US government services will be interrupted.
Because they are not necessary to protect lives and property, federal agencies have instructed hundreds of thousands of government employees to stay home from work.
In contrast to previous government shutdowns, Trump has threatened to fire additional federal employees if Congress do not enact legislation to stop the closures. As of Wednesday morning, his administration has not specified what cuts to anticipate.
In a Tuesday television appearance, White House budget director Russ Vought stated, “We will be looking for opportunities” to shrink the federal government.
