Abu Dhabi: According to UAE official media, which cited senior officials at the Global Rail Conference in Abu Dhabi, passengers will be able to travel by rail across the Gulf without stopping at borders by December 2030.
From Kuwait to Oman, the 2,120-kilometer GCC railway will connect all six member states. Before arriving in Muscat, Oman, the line will travel via Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE’s Etihad Rail.
The GCC Railways Authority’s interoperability director, Nasser Al Qahtani, stated that the GCC ministerial council’s schedule was firmly on track and that work was progressing among member states.
“The map does not show border stops. As with international flights, immigration will be processed prior to boarding,” he clarified.
