Over the weekend, Trump posted on Truth Social that he directed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem not to deploy federal law enforcement into far left states unless state or city officials request assistance.

Trump Says Cities Must Request Federal Support

Trump says local officials must handle protests on their own unless they ask the federal government for help.

He claims that if a city or state requests support, federal officers will respond immediately. He says they will restore order quickly and in an organized way.

Trump Orders Strong Protection for Federal Property

Trump says the federal government will actively protect federal buildings, courthouses, parks, and other government property if protesters attack them.

He also says he directed ICE and Border Patrol to act forcefully while protecting federal property. Trump warned protesters not to assault officers, damage vehicles, or throw rocks and bricks.

Trump did not explain whether “equal or more consequence” means criminal charges or other penalties.

Trump Blames Local Leaders for Weak Response

Trump says state and city leaders must protect local property. He also says they must protect federal property located in their jurisdictions.

He described violent protesters as agitators and anarchists. He claims some local governments cannot control the situation without federal help.

Trump Cites Past Riots as Proof

Trump pointed to the Los Angeles riots from one year ago. He claimed federal support helped restore control. He also quoted a police chief who said local authorities could not have handled it alone.

Trump added that ICE, Border Patrol, and possibly the military could step in if protesters target federal property.

Doctrine Linked to Law and Order Agenda

Trump connected the “ask us” doctrine to his broader agenda. He said voters elected him to strengthen border control, protect national security, and enforce law and order.

He said his administration will not allow anyone to damage federal courthouses, buildings, or other protected sites.
