Recalled Salmon Details
BJ’s Wholesale Club has recalled Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon after the Food and Drug Administration discovered possible listeria contamination. The recall applies to 2-lb bags marked with the Wellsley Farms logo and labeled “Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon.” Only lot number 3896 is affected.
The affected salmon sold at BJ’s stores in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia from January 31 to February 7. BJ’s is actively notifying customers who may have purchased the product. You can identify the lot by the UPC code 888670025963 and the lot number, located on the back of the packaging below the cooking instructions.
Health Risks of Listeria
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness. Healthy individuals may experience high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea. In addition, pregnant women face risks of miscarriage or stillbirth. Therefore, anyone showing symptoms should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Fortunately, the FDA has not reported any illnesses tied to this recall.
