On Monday, Australia’s most decorated Olympian, Emma McKeon, revealed that she will be retiring from swimming altogether. Her spectacular career included 20 world championship gold and 14 Olympic medals.
After helping Australia achieve its most successful Summer Games with gold, silver, and bronze in relays, the 30-year-old sprinter announced her retirement earlier this year at the Olympics in Paris.
“I’ll miss it, for sure… It has helped me form many wonderful relationships and has helped me become the person I am today,” McKeon said in the statement announcing her retirement.
“But I’m eager for the next phase of my life, and I’m definitely ready for it. I don’t think I’ve had time to think about everything just yet.
