Casualties and Damage Reported

Authorities confirmed at least one death. A 70 year old woman in North Sulawesi lost her life after being hit by falling debris. Another person suffered a broken leg after jumping from a building during the shaking.

Tsunami Warning Issued and Lifted

The earthquake triggered tsunami warnings in several countries, including Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Guam, and Papua New Guinea. Officials initially warned of small waves, but they lifted the alert after about two hours when no threat developed.

Residents Describe Strong Shaking

People in nearby areas described the earthquake as one of the strongest in recent years. Residents in Manado and Bitung reported intense shaking that lasted for several seconds.

A journalist in central Manado said the tremors were strong enough to move furniture and make her feel dizzy. In Bitung, market activity stopped as buildings shook and power outages began.

Panic and Emergency Response

Many residents rushed outside their homes in fear. Some even left buildings without completing daily activities as the shaking intensified. Schools near coastal areas quickly asked parents to pick up their children for safety.

In Ternate, residents said their homes shook for over a minute, creating panic in the streets. Emergency services monitored the situation closely as people evacuated buildings.

Region Known for Seismic Activity

Indonesia lies in a highly active seismic zone. Earthquakes are common in this region due to tectonic plate movement. Despite frequent tremors, residents said this quake felt stronger than usual.

Previous Article Weight Loss Drugs: What You Should Know Before Using Them New hope for weight loss Weight loss medications are becoming more common, but they are not a simple fix. Many people expect fast, permanent results, yet that is rarely the case. These medicines can support weight loss, but long term success still depends on lifestyle changes. Sarah Le Brocq shared her experience after struggling with obesity for most of her life. She tried many diets, but the weight always returned. After using weight loss medication for more than two years, she lost about 51 kilograms. She also noticed major changes in her daily life. She felt less focused on food, had more energy, and could do things she could not do before. Growing use of modern weight loss drugs More people are now using medicines like semaglutide and tirzepatide, commonly known by brand names such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. These drugs are part of a new approach to treating obesity. Experts believe their use will continue to grow as new options appear, including tablets instead of injections. Some medical professionals see these drugs as a major breakthrough. Others believe people should not ignore diet and exercise. They warn that weight often returns once the medication stops. How these drugs work Weight loss medications work by reducing appetite. They mimic natural hormones that signal fullness. These hormones include GLP 1 and GIP. The drugs attach to receptors in the body that control hunger signals. This helps the brain feel full sooner and reduces food intake. As a result, many users begin to lose weight within a few weeks. Important things to consider These medicines are mainly approved for people with obesity. However, demand is rising, and some people without obesity are also trying to access them through private services. Before starting these drugs, it is important to understand that they are not a permanent solution. They work best when combined with healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. Stopping the medication can often lead to weight gain again. Weight Loss Drugs: What You Should Know Before Using Them
Next Article Trump Delays Strike Against Iran's Energy Sector: Strategy or Signal? Donald Trump once again delayed a potential attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure, this time for 10 days. The timing of this move is critical in an ongoing conflict which has lasted for almost a month. This delay begs the question, is it a move toward diplomacy or a preparation for an escalation of violence? The Multiple Motivations of a Tactical Pause Delaying a decision does not indicate that peace is imminent. Trump uses deadlines to his advantage. He uses them to control narratives and influence markets. They also give him room to maneuver. The announcement of this latest pause came shortly after the US market closed. This timing indicates an attempt to calm down financial uncertainty. The administration could be trying to avoid sudden shocks on global markets by avoiding an immediate escalation. Washington has more time now to consider diplomatic options. Pakistan is acting as an intermediary in the indirect communication that takes place between Iran and the US. Even early talks are underway about the possibility of a neutral meeting. Expectations remain low. Both sides have made tough demands that make a rapid agreement difficult. The Military build-up continues Military preparations intensify as well, while diplomacy continues. Around 2,000 US Marines will be moving from Japan into the Middle East. California is also sending thousands of parachutists. According to reports, up to 10,000 more troops may follow. The buildup suggests that this pause is not purely diplomatic. It gives time for forces to be positioned in preparation of a possible strike. The message is also clear to Iran - accept the terms or suffer serious consequences. Strait of Hormuz Remains central Conflict has increasingly been focused on the Strait of Hormuz - a vital passageway for oil shipping around the world. Iran has limited access to the Strait of Hormuz, which affects international trade and markets for energy. The US has effectively allowed Iran to continue its current position for several more days by extending the date. Both sides are continuing limited attacks to keep tensions up without starting a full-scale conflict. Diplomacy or escalate? Trump's action keeps both options open. It creates a space for negotiation. It also strengthens the military's readiness. Short-term, nothing has changed. The military exchanges are continuing, but the threat of an escalation remains. It will be crucial to see if this temporary pause results in talks, or worsens the conflict. Macron calls for a consistent, serious approach to the Iran war despite Trump’s mixed signals
