TEHRAN: Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, revealed on Wednesday that a bus transporting pilgrims from Pakistan met with an accident near Yazd on Wednesday, resulting in at least 28 deaths and 23 critical injuries.
Tipu reported on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, that the accident happened about 700 kilometers away from the embassy.
The ambassador made this comment in response to Iranian media reports that a bus transporting pilgrims from Pakistan had overturned and caught fire close to the Taftan-Dehshir checkpoint.
“Embassy staff members departed for Yazd this morning. The emergency plans are being managed by an officer in Zahedan,” the envoy added.
The unfortunate bus collided with a school wall due to overspeeding and braking failure, the envoy told Geo News.
