Two terrorists were killed in separate operations carried out by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a brief statement issued on Thursday, the ISPR stated that a terrorist ring commander named Shamrooz alias Sheenay was killed in a heavy exchange of fire between militants and security officials during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district.
Meanwhile, another terrorist called Mansoor was taken down in a separate operation in the Dera Ismail Khan district, according to the military’s media wing.
It stated that the murdered terrorists were still actively participating in a variety of terrorist acts against security personnel, as well as extortion and targeted killings of innocent citizens, and that they were wanted by law authorities.
According to the statement, guns, ammo, and explosives were retrieved from the killed terrorists.
ISPR further added that sanitization measures are underway to eradicate any such terrorists discovered in the vicinity.
The villagers applauded the forces’ activities and offered their complete support for the military’s efforts to eliminate the threat of terrorism.
Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist strikes in Balochistan and KP provinces in recent months, which has hampered the pre-election phase in several provincial pockets.
In response, security forces increased their efforts to combat terrorism and were successful in restoring stability in the afflicted districts, particularly those bordering Afghanistan.
Last week, three terrorists were killed and four others were injured during an encounter of fire with Pakistani security forces in an IBO in KP’s Karak district.
