Just 116 days after her birth, the smallest baby to ever survive an early birth at a Nebraska hospital was allowed to go home.
According to FOX TV Stations, John McClinton, who goes by “Buddy” with his parents, was born at 24 weeks and 2 days. Weighing less than a pound, he was born at Methodist Women’s Hospital in Omaha.
Buddy is currently on oxygen and returned home in December.
During a snowstorm, a Wisconsin woman gives birth in McDonald’s parking lot and names her baby “MCFLURRY.”
In a press release on January 16, Methodist Women’s Hospital staff stated that Buddy, who was born on Labor Day, was the smallest baby to survive the hospital at 14.1 ounces and measured 9.65 inches.
Doctors were able to sew the hole in Buddy’s heart that existed from birth. He is still expected to lead a healthy life in spite of that.
Mom Ashley McCLinton told FOX TV Stations, “He really just needed to grow, by the grace of God and the wonderful medical team.”
‘EVERYONE WAS MAKING BETS,’ SAYS THE PARENTS OF A 14-POUND BABY, THE LARGEST ON RECORD SINCE 2010.
The mother had been pregnant with Buddy after suffering a miscarriage. Buddy stopped growing in the womb at about 20 weeks, and McClinton’s blood pressure shot up.
“I kept thinking, ‘Lord, I can’t lose another child.'” “I can’t bury another child,” she uttered.
Ashley referred to the day her baby was eventually released from Methodist Women’s Hospital as “bittersweet.”
