PESHAWAR: Just hours after PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja affirmed Sohail Afridi’s nomination for the position, Ali Amin Gandapur, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, resigned as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday.
Declaring that PTI founder Imran Khan had trusted him with the chief ministership, Gandapur formally presented his resignation to KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Gandapur, a fiery PTI politician who was also a federal minister during Khan’s leadership, said on X that he was returning the trust per the party founder’s instructions. The party founder has been imprisoned since August 2023.
