Aimal Wali Khan, the president of the Awami National Party (ANP) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was unanimously chosen on Sunday to serve as the party’s central leader.
Chief Election Commissioner Iftikhar Hussain chaired the party’s general council meeting, which took place at the ANP’s Bacha Khan Center in Peshawar.
No other candidate filed papers to be considered for the presidency, according to sources. ANP leader Haider Khan Hoti proposed the name Aimal.
Notably, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Aimal’s father, served as the party’s president. The prominent politician, though, has taken a long break from politics and did not run in the general elections on February 8.
Conversely, Zahid Khan, the central spokesperson for the ANP, announced his resignation on Saturday.
