ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal declined to rescind his resignation from the National Assembly (NA), citing the “prevailing situation” in Balochistan. The administration, however, promised to take up Mengal’s complaints.
Speaking to reporters following his meeting with a government delegation led by Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah’s advisor on inter-provincial coordination, the seasoned politician declared, “I have no intention of withdrawing [my] resignation.”
Mengal was urged to rescind his resignation after the team, which also included Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Usman Badiani, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, and Khalid Magsi, promised to resolve his complaints.
The BNP-M leader countered that although they attempted to persuade him, “I convinced them.” Mengal stated that he brought up concerns about the exploitation of Balochistan during the meeting.
