ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is expected to enter the federal cabinet in the second phase, despite public claims that it is solely backing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) nominee for prime minister, sources informed Geo News on Wednesday.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the PPP, declared on Tuesday that the party will back the PML-N in forming a government without being a member of the federal cabinet.
Addressing a press conference following the conclusion of the PPP’s two-day Central Executive Committee, Bilawal stated that the party would be willing to support on an issue-by-issue basis, as well as in the case of important votes for Pakistan’s prime ministerial candidate, to ensure that a government is formed and political stability is restored.
.
Shujaat Hussain, Shehbaz, Asif Zardari, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan, and Senate Chairman and BAP delegate Sadiq Sanjrani were among the party’s leaders.
Soon after the press conference finished, PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb declared on social media site X that party supremo Nawaz Sharif had nominated Shehbaz Sharif for Prime Minister and Maryam Nawaz for Punjab Chief Minister.
Prior to the announcement of Shehbaz’s nomination for Prime Minister, the PML-N president informed allies that he had been nominated for the coveted position and promised to make the choice public provided allies agreed to vote for him in the National Assembly.
According to sources, the heads of all parties informed Shehbaz that they would vote for him in the prime minister’s election.
According to insiders, the next government’s coalition partners will form committees to decide who will be included in the federal cabinet, and the PPP will not be included in the cabinet during the first phase.
