It comes after Ozzy Osbourne claimed earlier this month that West utilized a Black Sabbath sample without his permission because he is a “antisemite,” despite Osbourne’s denial that West was allowed to use it.
According to the report, the duo included “instantly recognisable” portions of Summer’s song in their brand-new single Good (Don’t Die), even though West’s “controversial history” caused their request to be denied.
According to court records, the Summer estate was contacted on January 31 to ask for the song’s clearance. The record was released on February 10th, one week after this was refuted.
At this time, according to court filings, representatives of West and Griffin went to Summer’s record company to ask for permission to release the song’s master recording. This request was also turned down.
The song was played “millions of times” on streaming services including Spotify, iTunes, and Apple Music before it was taken down. West and Griffin had also performed the song live and had video of it posted online.
