In the NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard scored 39 points and hit 11 3-pointers to lead the Eastern Conference to a record-setting 211-186 victory over the Western Conference.
For the first time, Lillard, 33, was chosen the most valuable player of the NBA All-Star Game by virtue of his performance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The record for the most points scored by a team in an All-Star Game was broken by the Eastern Conference. The previous record was set in the 2016 All-Star Game by the Western Conference and late Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant, who scored 196 points.
Following the game, Lillard stated, “I just know you’ve got to keep shooting the ball and I think in a game like this, it’s going to be pretty loose and you’re going to get your opportunities.”
“I just told myself that I’m going to continue firing and acting aggressively. I felt like I was going after it when I watched a couple in.
Nothing seemed to be beyond his shooting range, and at times it seemed like he couldn’t miss.
