An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on a security force vehicle in the Sadda region of Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing five Pakistan Army troops, the military’s wing said on Friday.
As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), five courageous sons of soil, namely Havildar Aqeel Ahmed, 33, a resident of Okara district; Lance Naik Muhammad Tafeer, 30, a resident of Poonch district; Sepoy Anosh Rufun, 24, a resident of Attock district; Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan, 26, a resident of Haripur district; and Sepoy Haroon William, 29, a resident of Islamabad Capital Territory, made the ultimate sacrifice and accepted Shahadat (martyrdom).
The ISPR also stated that those responsible for this heinous act will face punishment as the area is being sanitized to remove any terrorists that may have been present.
According to the ISPR, “Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate the threat of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
Seven Pakistan Army personnel, including a captain, lost their lives earlier this month after an IED struck the security forces’ vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district, according to the ISPR.
The military’s media wing announced on June 11 that security forces then killed 11 terrorists who were responsible for the martyrdom of seven army troops during an intelligence-based operation in the Lakki Marwat district.
