Due to unpaid insurance claims, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad has stopped providing free treatment services for patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab under the health facility card scheme.
Many patients are impacted by the suspension, especially those undergoing general and gynecological surgery.
Hospital sources indicate that the decision was taken because State Life Insurance was unable to settle outstanding claims totaling Rs 140 million.
Patients who depended on the health facility card to receive free treatments may consequently have trouble getting access to healthcare. The only patients who will continue to receive free treatment under the program are those in the intensive care unit (ICU), cardiac care unit (CCU), and dialysis patients.
