As AI-developing businesses scramble to secure energy for data center growth, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, may announce a nuclear power agreement for at least $1 billion with Constellation Energy as early as this week.
According to Bloomberg, which cited people familiar with the talks, the corporations are getting close to finalizing a multi-year arrangement.
Both Alphabet and the biggest US nuclear plant operator, Constellation Energy, declined to comment. No other information on the transaction has been made public.

Constellation’s Strong Clean Energy Position
According to Constellation, 80% of Fortune 100 corporations rely on its fleet for electricity, and it produces around 10% of the renewable energy in the United States.
Furthermore, it is still anticipated that widespread commercial deployment of the next generation of sophisticated fission technology will take years.
Google’s nuclear strategy goes beyond one deal
Google’s approach is more comprehensive than the rumored Constellation contract, and this would not be the company’s first nuclear venture. In addition to purchasing power from already-existing reactors, the corporation finances the construction of upgraded reactors, promotes new nuclear sites, and aids in the restart of shut-down reactors.
Google and NextEra Energy inked a 25-year contract in October 2025 to revive Iowa’s 615-MW Duane Arnold Energy Center. In the same year, Google and Elementl Power reached an agreement to build three possible advanced nuclear plants in the United States, each with a minimum capacity of 600 MW.
Nuclear power race
Amazon and Microsoft, two of the tech giant’s rivals in the AI sector, have agreements with Constellation.
A 20-year deal including 690 MW of electricity and more than $3 billion in investment at Maryland’s Calvert Cliffs nuclear facility was announced by Amazon and Constellation on September 30.
In the meanwhile, Microsoft and Constellation collaborated to restart the nuclear plant at Three Mile Island.
