It was the Phillies who produced a timeless moment on Sunday.
Mark Vientos stepped up to the plate with the Mets behind by two runs in the top of the ninth inning. To tie the game, Vientos hit a crucial two-run home run against Matt Strahm.
But last-place honors went to Philadelphia.
Tylor Megill was placed on the mound in an attempt to compel further innings. Austin Hays was struck out by him, and Kyle Schwarber was forced to pop out to third base. The Mets just needed to get out one more batter.
Megill gave the Phillies some hope by walking Bryce Harper and Trea Turner.
After that, Turner scored from second base after Nick Castellanos hooked one to left field. After winning the game 7–6, the Phillies knotted the series 1–1.
In the contest, Castellanos went 3-for-5 with two RBI. In the sixth inning, he launched a solo home run off of Luis Severino. Harper went 1-for-4 in the game and also hit a home run.
